Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) has become a vital part of aircraft performance in electronics used for navigation, communications, weather radar, and collision avoidance. The IDS Aeronautical Division offers electromagnetic consultancy services covering a full range of prediction and measurement services such as antenna performance optimization, EMI and link budget assessment for simple and complex systems, Rotor Blade Modulation (RBM) effects evaluation, indirect effects of lightning and High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) risk assessment and mitigation, antenna pattern measurement, radome and harness qualification, characterization of the electromagnetic properties of materials.

The IDS Aeronautical Division also offers E-MIND, an integrated system for aeronautical EMC/EMI risk assessment and mitigation. It includes an array of prediction tools that cover the full operational spectrum of modern aircrafts. Additional features include a full framework for project workflow and management, design history and modification tracking, version control, and tools to interface with most common CAD software.

E-MIND Capabilities include:

  • Pattern distortion analysis
  • Antenna and array modeling and siting optimization
  • Self-coupling, in-band and out of band inter antenna coupling
  • Airborne radome performance assessment (RTCA DO-213)
  • High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) analysis
