M/A-COM, now Cobham Defense Electronic Systems, has developed three new ultra low noise amplifiers that achieve less than 1dB NF and are tunable over a wide frequency range. They are ideal for a variety of applications including GPS, WiMax, DAB, and MoCA. These are the first products developed on a new low noise pHEMT process.
Two of these LNAs, the MAAL-007304 and MAAL-007306, are high gain amplifiers in a RoHS compliant SOT-26 surface mount plastic package. These amplifiers employ a monolithic 2-stage self-biased design and typically run from a single 3.0 volt supply. The MAAL-007304 offers a noise figure of 0.7 dB while only using 11.5 mA of current and has 25.5 dB of gain up to 3.0 GHz. The MAAL-007306 has a higher operating current and OIP3 in order to support higher power applications for the infrastructure market up to 2.0 GHz.
The MAAL-008550 low noise amplifier is packaged in a RoHS SC-70 compliant surface mount plastic package. This is a single stage self-biased design and typically runs from a single 3.0 volt supply. It offers a low noise figure of 0.75 dB while only using 7.5 mA of current and has 12.5 dB of gain at 2.3 GHz.
