Ultimate SMT Assemblies
Narda's new Ultimate STM Technology provides a low cost means for manufacturing microwave assemblies. A single board employed which houses the microwave circuits on one side and control circuits and other functions on reverse side. Key features include:

Narda currently employs its Ultimate SMT technology to construct a number of complex microwave assemblies.. An example shown is the adjacent photo is a KU band block converter (BDC). The figure shows the top side of the board where the microwave circuitry is located and also shows the bottom side where the power, control and other lower frequency functionality is contained. The board is fabricated as a single multilayer board comprising both low loss high frequency microwave laminates and standard FR4 material.
The Ultimate SMT fabrication approach provides the flexibility to mix blind, buried and standard through hole vias as appropriate to achieve the required interconnections between layers. A novel subcover approach, enables Narda to meet the strict isolation levels needed to exceed the spurious specifications of our microwave hardware. An additional advantage of the Ultimate SMT technology is that it provides for the integration of both standard surface mount components with devices that are assembled using microwave integrated circuit (MIC) chip and wire techniques.
