Emerson & Cuming was founded by C.L Emerson and W.R Cuming in 1948. Initially, the company embarked on government sponsored microwave materials research and development programs primarily for military applications. The transfer of materials technology from military to the commercial communications market fueled the growth of the company and defined the evolution of the ECCOSORB® product line.

In 1978, the company was purchased by W.R. Grace & Company. During the Grace years, strong quality control, accounting and management policies were implemented to augment the company's technological focus. Subsequently, due to a change in strategy within Grace, the microwave business became available and a buy out by the European management of the microwave division was undertaken. Today, Emerson & Cuming Microwave Products is a privately owned corporation and operates globally with manufacturing plants in Westerlo, Belgium and Randolph, Massachusetts in the US, with sales offices and manufacturer representatives located throughout the world. Our Hong Kong sales office provides support to all regions of Asia, including Australia.

Our manufacturing plants are equipped with over 151,000 square feet of factory space combined. Both manufacturing plants offer a wide range of capabilities ranging from customer configured die cut, machined, and water-jet cut parts, to state-of-the-art automated Mold-in-Place processes, injection molding, and fully automated carbon production facilities capable of producing more than 10,000 square feet of dipped and sprayed carbon foam products each week.

Full-scale R&D laboratories at each of our facilities are equipped to measure electromagnetic, mechanical and chemical properties in accordance with ASTM standards. Our expert teams have a broad knowledge of materials science, chemistry, microwave theory and measurement techniques ready to help solve your specific electromagnetic materials problems.
