P25 And TETRA Testing Solutions On Display In Anritsu Booth At APCO 2014

Instruments and Techniques for Verifying Performance of Public Safety Radios and Networks to be Showcased by Global Test Leader

Anritsu Company (booth #1118), a leading test and measurement equipment supplier for law enforcement, public safety and homeland security agencies, will be exhibiting solutions that help ensure the performance of today’s private networks, such as P25 and TETRA, at APCO 2014, August 4-5 in New Orleans. Field analyzers for deploying, installing, and maintaining networks, as well as instruments to verify the design of chipsets, base station components, and radios will be on display in the Anritsu booth.

“Anritsu has supplied test and measurement equipment to the Department of Defense (DoD), as well as federal, state, and local government entities for more than 40 years. Our solutions are vital to the operation of these critical communications networks, even in the harshest environments. Our commitment continues with solutions for current technologies, such as P25 and TETRA, and will be on display at APCO 2014,” said Pete Alexander, PhD, Vice President and General Manager of Anritsu Company.

P25 and TETRA Networks
For field testing, Anritsu offers the industry leading S412E LMR Master handheld land mobile radio analyzer. The S412E LMR Master is for LMR and PMR technicians and engineers responsible for the RF performance of P25, P25 Phase 2 (TDMA), NXDN, ETSI DMR, MotoTRBO, ETSI TETRA, and LTE technologies used in commercial, public safety, maritime, and critical infrastructure radio systems.

Anritsu will also display its MS2830A and MS269xA series of spectrum analyzers/signal analyzers that support P25, P25 Phase 2, NXDN, DMR and LTE modulation analysis for benchtop testing environments. For receiver testing, the MG3740A dual channel vector signal generator will be in the Anritsu booth. It features excellent SSB phase noise performance to support narrowband radio Rx sensitivity suppression tests. The MG3740A includes the TIA Standard signal files for P25 and P25 Phase 2, making it suitable for testing analog and digital radios.

Field Solutions
Additionally, the S412E LMR Master will be shown with the MS2028C VNA Master handheld vector network analyzer in Distance-to-Fault (DTF) and component test demonstrations. The VNA Master specifically addresses complex cable and antenna analysis needs in the field with accurate, vector corrected 2-port magnitude, phase, and DTF measurements. Other field solutions in the Anritsu APCO booth will be the MT9090 Network Master in uOTDR and MT9090 GigE configurations, as well as the MT9083 Access Master. All three portable optical test solutions are well suited for mobile back haul testing applications.

To identify and locate hidden signals in the field, Anritsu will feature the MT8220T BTS Master base station analyzer and MS2720T Spectrum Master handheld spectrum analyzer. They will be equipped with the MA2700A InterferenceHunter direction finding system that enhances interference mapping and simplifies locating interference sources in public safety networks. For locating and eliminating Passive Intermodulation (PIM) that can adversely affect public safety network performance, Anritsu will display the MW82119A PIM Master handheld PIM analyzer.

Signal Capture and Playback
To help engineers verify and debug public safety radios that must operate in the presence of high-power signals in crowded adjacent radio bands, Anritsu will demonstrate new Capture and Playback capability in its MS2830A/MS269xA series. The just-introduced feature is a simple, efficient method of bringing challenging, real-world RF interference environments from the field to the laboratory. The MS2830A and MS269xA combine full-featured spectrum analysis, vector signal analysis and vector signal generation and enable users to capture and playback up to 100 MHz of spectrum using a single instrument. In addition, captured signals may be replayed at different frequencies and levels to easily determine performance margins.
