Mobile Measurement Vehicle (MMV)

Source: X-COM Systems

X-COM’s mobile measurement vehicle is an RF recording and DF/Geo-Location System (MRS/DFGS) designed to record RF spectrum segments, while also determining the direction of arrival and geographical location of key signal emitters.

The mobile measurement vehicle employs a Tektronix real-time spectrum analyzer as the receiver front end. The analyzer works in conjunction with X-COM’s Spectro-X software. The result is an RF recording element with 100% intercept probability for any 9 KHz to 20 GHz signals that emit more than a few microseconds. The software allows users to visualize these captured signals, or search for other signals by carrier characteristics, previously captured waveforms, user-created waveforms, or standard waveforms.

The DF/Geo-Location System that the vehicle employs provides a permanent record of RF signals/environments generated in a specific area, and can also be used to locate the original transmission source.

In summation, X-COM’s Mobile Measurement Vehicle (MMV) can:

  • Record the RF spectrum up to 110 MHz BW at any frequency between 9 KHz and 20 GHz
  • Record time of up to 14 hours or longer
  • Determine direction of arrival and geo-locate emitters on a standalone basis with powerful moving map overlay

It features:

  • GPS receiver precision timing and vehicle location information
  • Fully air conditioned with over 6 foot of interior standing height for crew comfort during extended operations
  • Generator and UPS provides up to 3 KW of AC power
  • Comfortable two person workstation with two 36 inch high brightness LED monitors and two DOT approved operator’s seats
  • Seating for up to five additional crew personnel

The mobile RF environment and signal analysis system’s capabilities and features make it ideal for electronic warfare, wireless communications, spectrum management, radar, and surveillance applications. Download the datasheet for more information.
