Lithium Niobate Q-Switches

Lithium Niobate switches are used for the Q-switching of Nd:YAG, Nd:YALO, Nd:YLF, and Er.YLF lasers. They’re designed to solve the issues associated with pyro-electric charge buildup – a phenomenon that can cause low contrast ratio and poor hold-off from premature lasing. The weak material conductivity in Lithium Niobate makes it an ideal medium to dissipate pyro charges.

Gooch & Housego’s Lithium Niobate Q-switches are ideal for a wide variety of applications involving lasers, including range finding, ophthalmic surgery, and target designation. Each switch is AR coated for 1064nm and has a pulse laser damage threshold of at least 200MW/cm2.

There are two series in this family. The 7100-1 Series is 9x9x25mm and its aperture allows high power lasers to be switched. The 7100-4 Series is 7.4x7.4x21mm and its smaller aperture allows a more compact laser build.
