Hittite's New Power Amplifiers Deliver 4 Watts & 40 GHz Bandwidth

Ideal for Test & Measurement, Microwave Radio, Radar, SATCOM & Telecom

Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has launched two new GaAs MMIC power amplifiers that are ideal for test instrumentation, high capacity point-to-point/point-to-multi-point radios, SATCOM, radar and telecom infrastructure applications covering the DC to 40 GHz and 9 to 12 GHz frequency ranges.

The HMC5805LS6 is a GaAs pHEMT MMIC Distributed Power Amplifier which operates between DC and 40 GHz. The amplifier provides 13 dB of gain, 33 dBm output IP3 and +22 dBm of output power at 1 dB gain compression while requiring 175 mA from a +10V supply. The HMC5805LS6 exhibits a slightly positive gain slope from 8 to 32 GHz, making it ideal for EW, ECM, radar and test equipment applications. The HMC5805LS6 amplifier I/Os are internally matched to 50 Ohms. 

The HMC6741LS7 is a four stage GaAs pHEMT MMIC High Power Amplifier with a temperature compensated on chip power detector which operates between 9 and 12 GHz. The amplifier provides 35 dB of gain, +38 dBm of saturated output power, and 25% PAE from a +7V supply. With up to +44.5 dBm Output IP3, the HMC6741LS7 is ideal for high linearity military and space applications and point-to-point/point-to-multi-point radios. The HMC6741LS7 amplifier I/Os are internally matched. 

Both amplifiers require no external matching components and are housed in ceramic air cavity packages which exhibit low thermal resistance and are compatible with surface mount manufacturing techniques.

The HMC6741LS7 is ideal for inclusion in new microwave radio designs with the 10 to 16 GHz HMC924LC5 I/Q Upconverter. The HMC5805LS6 Distributed Power Amplifier is ideal for new designs requiring DC to 40 GHz frequency coverage and can be used with many of Hittite's advanced Mixers, Switches, Phase Shifters, Voltage Variable Attenuators and Power Detectors.
