Microwave ovens need to be shielded well in order to prevent leakage of RF fields to maintain safety. As humans are exposed to a variety of microwave ovens for cooking, sterilization, and even drying, their designs have to meet legal requirements that determine the amount of acceptable power that can leak beyond a certain distance. This article discusses how electromagnetic simulation can be used to design effective shielding mechanisms in order to adhere to these standards.
