The radiating elements of high-power microwave systems can have major negative impacts on the other elements of the system if they aren’t directed properly. Directivity, efficiency, power dissipation, and dispersion are just a few of the things that need to be considered when determining how to radiate high-power pulses. This application note discusses the design and implementation of a high-power microwave traveling-wave antenna and how its performance was optimized through the use of EM simulation software.
