C3 Software

The BattleHawk Command & Control (BHC2) software is configurable to deliver a solution matched to each user role. Its HCI has been developed over a number of years in co-operation with end users from the armored, infantry, special forces, and command domains.

BattleHawk Combat Management System

BattleHawk Combat Management System (CMS) provides a fully integrated Situation Awareness (SA) and C4I capability for fighting troops and platforms from Brigade down to the soldiers in the field.

BattleHawk CMS has a series of input/output ports to enable data gathering from a diverse range of sensors. Internal map analysis, GPS and DMC provide the basis for an accurate navigation mode. Dead reckoning and other navigational aids are fully integrated to suit the specific requirements of the end user.

BattleHawk CMS, Command System, Vehicle Platform and Infantry Digital Soldier System (IDSS) and WaveHawk Naval Combat Management System use common software. The use of a generic BattleHawk software package facilitates software maintenance and upgrades, guaranteeing robust interoperability between software systems and hardware configurations in a multilingual format. It provides:

Combat Situation Awareness

  • All data displayed is relative to a large area map with slave screen facility and recorded for after-action review.
  • Own position from integral, high sensitivity GPS module.
  • Integrated Digital Magnetic Compass for direction while stationary.
  • Friendly (Blue) Force tracking locations from, BMS, CMS, or local input.
  • Enemy (Red) force location from BMS, CMS, or local input.
  • Create own or use received overlays for arcs of fire, minefields, and sketches.

Communications

  • BattleHawk CMS supports multi-level long and short range voice and data radios, eg. combat net radio plus infantry assault radio with no effect on CNR performance when connected.
  • Pre-formatted messages (SitReps, CasReps etc), freehand text or sketches.
  • Transmit/receive any map related data e.g. overlays, objects, routes, etc.

Navigation

  • Raster, vector, and terrain imagery or other types supported with center on own position, pan, zoom, or rotate for full map control. .
  • Terrain analysis for preparation, planning, and management of routes, waypoints, dead ground, and maximum visible range.
  • Audible warnings for approaching waypoints and hazards.

Sensor Input/output

  • Multiple ports for RS232, USB, video, Laser Rangefinder, Digital Camera, weapon sights, Head Up Display, and other sensors as required.
  • Simple to use touch screen keypad MMI for day and night use.

Security

WaveHawk Command Information System

WaveHawk Naval Combat Management System is a flexible solution, providing a command view for naval operations. WaveHawk works side-by-side with command and control systems, providing a specialized capability that enables intuitive management, manipulation, and display of tactical information in both wartime and peacetime operations.

The WaveHawk Combat Management System supports:

  • Navigation requirements (ECDIS).
  • Pure tactical systems (tactical plotting table).
  • Combined navigation/tactical system (WECDIS to STANAG 4564)
  • Integration for operations with land C4ISTAR Systems.
  • Chart, mapping, and tactical data in many different data formats (including UKHO ARCS, S57 data and Additional Military Layers).

The system has a number of interface ports (including two RS232 serial ports) that can be configured to accept information from the ship's sub-system, normally in the form of track information from radar, sonar, etc. This is displayed together with the ship's own data on a geographical backdrop, which presents positions based on the selected projection and coordinate system. The system can interface with other equipment via a Local Area Network and has a parallel port to support printing or read/write devices.

WaveHawk's CMS' unique display manipulation capabilities and the intuitive Human-Computer Interface (HCI) permit the generation of tactical information views, providing the ability to create clear command insight into the collated data set.

Features:

  • Data assigned to multiple layers for easy display and information management.
  • Built in data log - supports extended missions with a replay facility.
  • Special functions, which include man overboard, relative velocity tools and weapon danger zone.
  • Collating and displaying data autonomously to assist in command decisions.
  • Standard touch screen, keyboard, and cursor control interface.
  • Command screen is operated by a dedicated "hot key" membrane allowing the command view to be manipulated independently of the operator view.
  • Customized function keys
