CCS And ADTRAN Align On Open Network Vision For Metnet Self-Organising mmWave Backhaul

ADTRAN adds Metnet to its Mosaic Open Network Alliance and portfolio to deliver backhaul and access solution for pre-5G and next-generation deployments

Cambridge Communication Systems (CCS) Limited recently announces that it has joined the ADTRAN Mosaic Open Network Alliance and completed a global reseller agreement that will enable ADTRAN to provide CCS’ pioneering wireless solution to address backhaul and access opportunities across multiple markets worldwide. These developments in the companies’ relationship are effective immediately and demonstrate their shared vision on open and disaggregated networks.

Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, with sales offices throughout the US and around the world, ADTRAN provides products that enable voice, data, video and Internet communications across a variety of network infrastructures. With the ability to harness Metnet’s self-organising multipoint-to-multipoint carrier-grade solution, ADTRAN will be able to complement its existing wired solution offering to customers and provide backhaul for pre-5G and next-generation access such as G.Fast deployments, where backhaul fibre might not be available or practical.

As part of its Mosaic Open Network Alliance, ADTRAN will be promoting and reselling CCS’s 1.2Gbps Metnet in the licensed 24/26/28GHz bands, along with next-generation Metnet in the 60GHz mmWave bands. CCS Metnet can be used as Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) in both licensed and unlicensed mmWave bands, as a cost-effective alternative to fixed wired solutions. As part of the agreement, CCS Metnet is being integrated into ADTRAN’s MosaicÔ Software Defined Access (SD-Access) solution for network management and SDN control. The integration will enable ADTRAN’s customers to leverage the advantages of Metnet’s unique self-organising features with seamless end-to-end service provisioning and control.

Hossam Salib, VP Cable & Wireless Strategy at ADTRAN, commented on the agreement: “At ADTRAN, we are building upon the industry’s most complete SD-Access architecture spanning delivery and support regardless of the physical access media. This key partnership with CCS will enable us to provide a proven and industry-leading wireless backhaul and access solution to our customers that is uniquely optimised for the highest level performance today and next-generation deployment tomorrow.”

CCS CEO Steve Greaves added: “With its focus on end-to-end solutions that produce the greatest network efficiency and at the lowest possible cost, ADTRAN is a natural reseller partner for CCS. We are excited about our long-term partnership and the benefits our self-organising Metnet solution can deliver to ADTRAN customers worldwide.”
