AWR Releases NI AWR Design Environment V11 – First Major Software Release In 2014

AWR Corporation, the innovation leader in high-frequency EDA software, releases NI AWR Design Environment V11, its first major software release in 2014, which includes new features, enhancements, and user interface changes to Microwave Office/Analog Office circuit design software, Visual System Simulator (VSS) system design software, AXIEM 3D planar electromagnetic (EM) software, and Analyst 3D finite element method (FEM) EM software.

V11 highlights include:

NI AWR Design Environment/Microwave Office/Analog Office

  • Support for 64-bit mode on 64-bit operating systems
  • New gamma probe model
  • Layout improvements, specifically SPP (shape pre-processing)
  • APLAC harmonic balance (HB) technology as default HB simulator
  • Graphic display enhancements:
    • Stepped colors on swept traces
    • Multi-selection of traces for edit
    • Markers now show parameter sweep value

Visual System Simulator

  • Datasets that allow the results from simulation runs to be saved and stored in an AWR project for quick comparison of prior results
  • New models:
    • Phased array block
    • WLAN 802.11ac library
    • Radar library (enhancements)
    • RF block temperature dependency
    • PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controller

AXIEM 3D Planar EM Technology

  • Automatic ports technology simplifies the extraction flow
  • AFS band limiting
  • Simulation enhancements:
    • Higher accuracy loss model for thin conductors
    • Surface roughness
    • Frequency dependent dielectrics

Analyst 3D FEM EM Technology

  • 3D EM editor enhanced for creation of arbitrary 3D structures
    • Ready-made parts library included coils, connectors, antennas and more
    • Components can be created and parameterized, or imported in SAT or IGES formats
    • Components can be saved as custom library of parts that feature 3D PCell technology
  • Antenna analysis enhancement
  • Visualization improvements

“AWR’s V11 release of the NI AWR Design Environment supports our ongoing commitment to enabling our customers to spend more time focusing on their design challenges and less time on driving the software,” said Sherry Hess, vice president of marketing for AWR. “Analyst’s 3D parts library is a prime example in that it provides ready-built models for most needs, and, when custom models are required, the Analyst editor makes creation of these components a fast and straightforward process.”
