 GPS Smart Shoes... And Other Creative Applications For RF In Healthcare
I recently read about a GPS "smart shoe" that permits remote monitoring of Alzheimer’s and dementia suffers. Patented GPS tracking technology, paired with a broadband mobile chipset and unique SIM card, ensures the safety of the wearer and provides peace of mind for caregivers through real-time tracking, frequent reporting to a central monitoring station, and a web interface that displays the wearer’s exact location. The system even allows the caregiver to specify a geographic boundary and immediately notifies them via an email or SMS if the individual leaves the area.
This is one of many innovative applications for RF and microwave technology in today’s booming healthcare market.
