Advantages Of Cascading Reflectionless Filters

Source: Mini-Circuits

By Mini-Circuits

The technique of cascading filters in series is routinely used to enhance stopband rejection and steepness within the transition band. This method is also used to combine high pass and low pass filters in order to create a band pass response. The Mini-Circuits X-series reflectionless filters employ a filter topology where stopband signals are internally terminated rather than reflected back to the source, offering many advantages over conventional filters. This article demonstrates how cascaded reflectionless filters eliminate undesirable effects that traditional filters have, and allow greater design flexibility and improvement in system performance. Download the full paper for a complete simulation, testing results, and the advantages that cascading reflectionless filters have to offer.
