The RF3321 is a reverse path, programmable gain amplifier designed for IP Telephony systems, cable modems, set-top boxes and pay-per-view systems and is another component introduced to address the needs of the broadband communications market. The product is the second device in a family of reverse path amplifiers.

The device, operating from a single 4.75V-5.25V (5V) power supply, features a high output power level of 69dBmV into a 75ƒÇ load, offers a 29dB maximum voltage gain and a minimum -20dB voltage gain ¡X for a gain control range spanning 50dB. To facilitate compatibility with standard baseband chipsets, the device is serially programmable in 1db steps via a three-wire digital bus. The component¡¦s frequency range of 5MHz-150MHz covers current U.S. and European systems, as well as expanded return path systems.

Other features include DOCSIS-compliancy on switching transients, differential input/output and a low-current shutdown mode. Typical applications for the device include IP Telephony systems, interactive cable modems, set-top boxes and pay-per-view systems. It is offered in a QSOP-16 package.
