  • Integrating EM Simulation Technologies Within An RFIC Design Flow

A full-chip analyzation of a radio-frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) requires more than any single electromagnetic (EM) simulation technology, as the structure’s geometries and scales can pose a significant challenge to overcome. A successful RFIC analyzation usually requires a parasitic extraction simulator, a planar EM simulator, and arbitrary 3D solvers. This white paper inspects the characterization of all three technologies from these simulators using the NI AWR Design Environment™.

The Connected Vehicle Is The Model T Of Our Generation

The basic functionality of the modern automobile has remained essentially the same since its creation. It is their environment of operation and connected data that has changed dramatically in order to improve the driving experience. The connected car revolution in the auto industry is strongly positive, and has the potential to shake the industry as profoundly as the first Model T. TE is prepared to work with OEMs in their connected car design process in order to transform their business concepts into smart, leading, and innovative solutions.

Connected Homes And Intelligent Buildings: Solving For Reliability, Convergence, Connectivity

The concept of an automated home is not a new one, but the reality of it has come closer to consumers’ reach in the past couple decades. With technology costs decreasing, consumers becoming more interested in connected home solutions, and greater reliance on the efficiency of the cloud, solutions for home automation have free reign to become more sophisticated and accessible. TE is a company that is positioned for the connected home market. TE is ready to offer the internal elements including material components such as relays and connectors, to smart components such as sensors, and connectivity components such as antennas.

Five Things To Consider When Choosing A Crystal Oscillator

Oscillators are used in most electronic systems for a variety of practices including digital clock synchronization, stabilizing an RF signal for a receiver or transmitter, and accurate time keeping in real-time clocks. The specifications for the system and how the oscillator needs to function will determine most of the parameters of the device. The LC or RC resonator will control the frequency and determine what stability specifications may be achieved in many applications, but the addition of a quartz crystal will greatly improve the frequency stability of the device by several orders of magnitude, often with a minimal cost impact.

PAM4 Demands Accurate S-Parameters

As high speed serial data rates advance from 15 Gb/s to beyond 50 Gb/s, we face a fundamental shift. Conventional logic-emulating NRZ (non-return to-zero) signaling is being replaced by PAM4, a 4-level pulse amplitude modulation scheme that takes half the bandwidth to transmit the same payload as the equivalent NRZ signal. This white paper assists in the understanding on how to use S-parameters, how to think of channel response and crosstalk in terms of S-parameters, and how to look for problems that could be caused by inaccurate S-parameter measurements.
