Ultraminiature Coax Connector And Cable Assembly Series (UMCC) From Tyco Electronics

Tyco Electronics introduces its UMCC ultraminiature coax connector and cable assembly series. Building upon the success of the popular SSMT series, Tyco offers a lower-profile version to meet the growing demand for next-generation wireless applications such as wireless Internet, RFID, Bluetooth, mobile antennas, and cellular handsets. See the product spec sheet for more information.

From The Editor's Desk

Welcome to RF Globalnet's second annual "Top 10" special edition, our final newsletter of the year and annual recap of the most popular news, articles, products, and downloads from the previous 12 months.

If this newsletter had a theme, it would be "the more things change, the more they stay the same." For the second year in a row, an antenna article claims the coveted #1 article spot, and antenna-related content can again be found throughout the edition. News about university/government research, mergers and acquisitions, and unusual new products dominates the headlines, just as it did in 2005. And the "Technology 101" article remains king -- terms like "fundamentals," "basics," and "overview" appear repeatedly in the article and download sections...again! (For a point of reference, see the "Top 10" Of 2005 edition.)

This isn't to say that the 2006 "Top 10" offers nothing new. For example, WiMAX has finally arrived, forcing its way into the article and product lists (and barely missing the cut in the other two). This year's download section contains both software and multimedia offerings -- a trend, I expect, that will continue in future installments. And of 40 total positions in the four lists, 29 were claimed by organizations making their first appearance in the "Top 10."

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude, first to all the authors, companies, and organizations that contributed material in 2006. And thanks to you, our loyal readers, whose votes (clicks, really) made this special edition newsletter possible. Happy holidays from the entire RF Globalnet team -- we look forward to building next year's "Top 10" with you (starting on January 2, 2007)!

RF Globalnet's
Highlights From 2006

The past year was an exciting one for RF Globalnet. Following are some of the highlights from 2006. (Click on the headlines for more information.

Special Edition Newsletters
In May, we kicked off our current schedule, delivering readers two technology-, application-, or event-specific special editions each month. For next year's lineup, see our 2007 editorial calendar

IMS 2006 Coverage
This year's International Microwave Symposium was a huge success, and RF Globalnet was an exhibitor. While we were there, we prepared our annual "Notes From The Exhibition Floor" article series, quickly becoming an IMS tradition!

RF & Microwave Solutions Update
Released in June and distributed at IMS, our first print publication (and its companion online edition) contained the latest product/service information, as well as a collection of exclusive articles.

New Bookstore Partner
SciTech Publishing, which specializes in engineering and physical science books and electronic products, became RF Globalnet's official bookstore supplier in July. RF Globalnet readers get an extra 5% off SciTech prices.

Solutions Centers
Based on the response to our special edition newsletters, we started building these focused online resource hubs in September (with the WiMAX Solution Center). Look for more to be launched in 2007.

Discussion Forums
One of RF Globalnet's most popular community features, the Forums provide a medium for engineers to pose technical questions, offer advice, and share their thoughts on a range of technical and non-technical subjects.

If you would like to participate in any of these RF Globalnet features next year -- or have ideas for other resources we can provide in 2007 -- we would be delighted to hear from you. Drop us a line!
