Thermoplastic Molding Applications On The Rise Within RF/Microwave Markets

June 9, 2009

Randolph, MA -- Emerson & Cuming Microwave Products has seen a significant increase in applications requiring thermoplastic molding. This demand is driven by the ever increasing cost cutting initiatives of OEMs for high volume production programs. This thermoplastic technology is amenable to both lossy absorber or low loss dielectric systems to reduce part costs over traditional machining methods. A common application on the rise is microwave loads for satellite communication systems.

Jim DelPrete, a Senior Sales & Application Engineer at ECMP says, "With the economic conditions, companies are looking for ways to be more cost competitive and efficient. If they are designing parts that will eventually reach quantities in the 100's of thousands, thermoplastic molding if often a smart choice."
