Emerson & Cuming Launches Attenuator Kit For Field Test Parabolic Antennas

In order to evaluate the performance of an antenna receiver installation, Emerson & Cuming has designed a special attenuator kit.
The kit consists of 4 calibrated attenuators, respectively of 3, 6, 9 and 12dB. The purpose is to check the quality of the system by holding an attenuator in front of the receiver box. In this position, the attenuator will degrade the signal coming from the parabolic reflector.If the signal is cut off almost completely or seriously weakened by using the -3 dB disc, the antenna receiver installation is not compliant and intervention is necessary. By doing the same test with the other types of attenuators, the level of attenuation can be determined and recalibration may be required.
The main advantage of this method is the ease of calibrating antennas installed on towers or buildings without disconnecting the wiring of the system. The base material used for this design is ECCOSORB® LS-material. Different types are developed in a special way to reach the desired level of attenuation.
