COTS parts can be configured in distributed or centralized power supply formats, and are used and qualified in a lot of different applications. However, just dropping COTS converters into avionics/military power supplies has to be carefully analyzed as there are some barriers and specific requirements to meet. This article reviews the special requirements necessary to fulfill military or avionics power supply specifications with COTS.
