PDI Cambridge, England - European Manufacturing/Distribution Center: Precision Devices UK Ltd is the European headquarters of the PDI Inc. group of companies. Personnel in this facility provide sales, design and distribution of crystals, filters and oscillators throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It also serves as a design and manufacturing centre for most PDI product lines, however the facility concentrates primarily on Voltage controlled Crystal Oscillators (VCXOs) and Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators (TCXOs). There is proven and established expertise in all aspects of Frequency Control Products available at the site and is a certified ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996 registered manufacturing plant. It is located close to the famous University City of Cambridge England and employs approximately sixty staff. The current location has over 900m2 of floor space. To meet the needs of our growing global customer base, a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with nearly 2000m2 is being constructed near the current site. The completion date is set for the beginning of 2005.

The manufacturing facility in Nanjing, China, specializes in manufacturing high volume, low cost crystals, high volume crystal oscillators, crystal filters, through hole devices and surface mount devices.

This 8000 square meter manufacturing plant is ISO9001, ISO14000 and QS9000 certified, assuring high quality, custom designed products to meet the customer's applications in the commercial and military markets. The first facility in China to have a SMD line that could produce three million pieces per month; it also manufactures the highest quality precision crystal products in the industry. PDI Nanjing also provides lead free and CFC manufacturing processes that meet environmental protection requirements and offers flexible logistic programs to reduce delivery lead time to meet customer demands.

Despite the fact that the piezoelectric effect was discovered in the 19th century, and the use of quartz crystals to show the effect of piezoelectricity was demonstrated not long after, we at PDI believe that there is always room to improve.
