Emerson & Cuming Provides Injection-Moulded Absorbers For Large Volume Applications

Randolph, MA -- As part of a Ka-band communication system for broadband internet access via satellite, 2 Tx/Rx loads had to be designed for an orthomode transducer (OMT). The design objectives included high RF performance, tight tolerance and a mechanical fixing system to avoid gluing. Within these technical and stringent cost constraints, the only viable option was an injection-moulded absorber. Eccosorb MFPP120, a thermoplastic material with high magnetic loss was selected. Eccosorb MFPP120 is used for large volume applications including terminations, caps and covers, RF filters and cavity resonance absorbers.
