Performing Forward Passive IM Measurements

Intermodulation (IM) on passive devices requires careful attention to the test setup to avoid possibly significant measurement errors. This test is made even more difficult because the IM signal of interest is travelling the same direction through the DUT as the two high power carriers which stimulate the source(s) of IM.

This application note illustrates an effective technique for measuring forward PIM which minimizes many of the common sources of measurement uncertainty.
